Wednesday, April 13, 2011
When the RAV4 first came out back in 1996, I was in love! It was a cute, girly version of a jeep - 4wheel drive, room for 4 and you could take the top down. A four door fixed roof version was also available and that was the iconic vehicle that arguably created the compact SUV segment.

The Toyota RAV4 is one of the most popular compact SUVs on the market right now. In fact, only the Ford Escape is a better seller in this segment. More importantly, since 2005, the little Toyota has been enjoying a steady rise in sales while its arch nemesis, the Honda CR-V (third on sales charts) has been experiencing a slight decline over the past year.

Muskoka, Ontario - Timing, as they say, is everything and what better time is there to visit the wonderful Muskoka area of Ontario, but just when the leaves are bursting into color. Perhaps Toyota cleverly planned this for its 2009 RAV4 launch, or maybe cottage country was simply chosen because its renowned SUV is such a popular mode of transportation for families traveling to their cottages nowadays?

2007 Toyota RAV4 V6 Sport Road Test
Tuesday, March 13, 2007
Toyota's RAV4 invented the car-based SUV segment as a light, small and nimble little machine with front or four wheel drive and a fuel efficient engine. Sounds like it began life a great buggy for most jobs- as long as they weren't too big and they didn't require a whole lot of power.

2006 Toyota RAV4 Road & Trail Test
Wednesday, February 01, 2006
Toyota's RAV4 was an innovator when it came on the scene in 1995 as a 1996 model. It was small, perky and, while appearing Jeep-like, was more conducive to inner-city commuting than scaling rocky goat trails. Young urban women loved it, and so did older folks looking for an alternative to the venerable economy car. The second-generation RAV was a little more sophisticated, and due to its bolder styling was more appealing to guys. It was efficient too; among Canada's most fuel friendly SUVs.
