Just about a year after setting an ice speed record of 331.610 km/h in an Audi RS6 shod with Nokian Hakkapeliitta 7 studded tires, Nokian has done it again -- this time in an electric vehicle. If there are still some people out there who are convinced that hybrids just aren't capable of anything remotely exciting, Infiniti will shut them up for good with the M35h, which made it into the Guinness Book of World Records as the fastest full hybrid in the world, flying over 400 metres (or a quarter mile) in an average of 13.9031 seconds.

The world record for fastest car on ice (330.695 km/h) set by the Bentley Continental Supersports didn't last very long. On March 6, Finnish tire manufacturer Nokian reached a top speed of 331.610 km/h on the Gulf of Bothnia in Oulu, Finland.

On a beautiful sunny day at 25 degrees the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport achieved a new landspeed world record for production cars, on the proving grounds of the Volkswagen Group at Ehra-Lessien (nearby its headquarters at Wolfsburg). In the presence of the German Technical Inspection Agency (TÜV) and a representative of Guinness Book of Records the Super Sport achieved an average top speed of 431 km/h.
