Favourite Price-Defying Cars
Friday, August 03, 2012
Loosely adapted, the dictionary defines "value" as that warm, wholesome feeling that results from getting more than you paid for. Some examples include 2-for-1 wings, a free tall-can with your 2-4, or stealing your neighbors Wi-Fi.

The Hotel Valley Ho in Arizona
Friday, January 27, 2012
Walking down the curved second-floor balcony, looking for my room, I feel as if I'd stepped out of a time machine. Surrounded by palm trees, orange trees and a retro-chic décor splashed in turquoise, burnt orange and lime green, I'm suddenly overwhelmed by goosebumps.

Every time I drive a new subcompact, I'm impressed at the quick pace of their evolution. 2012 Kia Rio 5-door First Impressions
Tuesday, October 04, 2011
Why do most people buy a subcompact car? It's because they want something inexpensive to purchase and inexpensive to operate. Space is usually not a concern, as a single person or a couple who live in an urban area need something that will easily fit into their lives.

2011 New York: Hits and Misses
Friday, April 29, 2011
Kia's new design language looks pretty good on its smallest sedan. With those distinctive looks, 40 mpg, and Kia's track record for decent pricing, they will be only one outcome -- lots of happy customers. Also great to see "stop-start" showing up on a high-volume, low-cost vehicle like Rio.

2011 Kia Rio EX Convenience Review
Monday, April 04, 2011
While some cars get our juices flowing, others are merely a means of transportation. We have to recognize that the Kia Rio sedan is one of the latter. In fact, both its profile and equipment, which are starting to seem out of place compared to some of the Rio's recent competitors, like the Ford Fiesta, justify the upcoming arrival of a replacement, unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show this March.

2008 Kia Rio5 SX Tuner Review
Friday, September 05, 2008
Driving a Kia Rio5 is not exciting in itself. Like an Aveo, a Swift+ or an Accent, it is above all a convenient and affordable mode of transportation, nothing more. This tiny little thing falls into the category of subcompact cars measuring less than four metres, where the notion of performance is decidedly absent. That's why young buyers looking to stand out choose to tune their tiny little thing. And Kia Canada has understood this.

2006 Kia Rio Road Test
Friday, October 14, 2005
When the Rio hit the market in model year 2001, Kia boasted it was the lowest priced car in Canada. Now, the 2006 Kia, just being introduced nationwide, is so good that it doesn't need to be marketed on price alone. Actually, after spending three days driving the four-door sedan and five-door hatchback in various levels of trim, from Quebec City to Charlevois, Quebec, home of the beautiful Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu

2006 Kia Rio Road Test
Saturday, October 08, 2005
The next generation Rio has undergone a makeover, inside and out, to make it work better and offer more value for the people who use it most- hard working Canadians who want decent quality and economy in a well built and above all else, inexpensive package. Face it, we all have better things to spend our money on than a car, especially with gas prices lately ruining all the fun of performance motoring for all but the very well off. If you aren't one of these "very well off" people, you'll love the Rio. It's really the most reasonable, sensible, and guilt-free ways to spend your new-car dollar.

2005 Kia Rio Road Test
Sunday, June 19, 2005
Kia is the fastest growing car company in North America, and the Rio is their least costly car- so I thought I'd do my last review this year on it, to try and sort out whether this cut-rate compact was in fact "cheap" or not. This is a very inexpensive car, you can get one for $11,995 if you pay cash. There is also an available $500 discount for recent grads.

2005 Kia Rio RS Anniversary Edition Road Test
Tuesday, February 15, 2005
With regard to economy cars, aren't we all looking for the same thing? More bang for the buck? I know I am, and so are many consumers out there. But with all the options even entry-level cars offer, the rock-bottom price tag generally isn't so low when you're signing on the dotted line. But what if there was a car on the market that offered some of the most popular bells and whistles, proven reliability and a low price tag? Would you call that crazy? Maybe, but instead, call it the Kia Rio RS Anniversary Edition.
