2013 Ford Flex First Impressions
Friday, March 23, 2012
Mom's Taxi has been discovered by the "in" crowd. Ford says that 20% of all Flex sales are in the state of California. Does this mean it's the next Woodie surf wagon or is it being used for transporting people? In reality, the Ford Flex is being used for nearly every type of transport. After all, Ford named it the "Flex" because it was short for flexible.

2011 Ford Fiesta SEL Sedan Review
Wednesday, October 27, 2010
It's not a hybrid but it gingerly sips fuel like one. The all-new Ford Fiesta isn't just fuel-efficient--it's also pretty cool.

2010 Midsize Sedan Comparative Road Test
Monday, May 31, 2010
Social media being what it is, we, at Auto123.com, posted some pictures and comments about our upcoming comparison road test on our Facebook page (Auto123.com). We listed the cars slated for evaluation and shortly afterwards, comments came pouring in, asking why this car and that car were not included in the test. First, we can't test them all. Second, we limit ourselves to a segment and third, we try and have them carry similar powertrains and levels of kit.

2009 Ford Flex Review
Wednesday, January 21, 2009
There are two things about the Flex the first time you see one that are
only partially true. Number one is that it looks like a Mini Clubman on
steroids. This isn't true. The optional white roof and the love it or hate it design squared off design provide only a passing resemblance to the
Clubman.

2009 Ford Flex SEL AWD Review
Wednesday, November 19, 2008
The minivan craze has abated, replaced largely by SUVs and CUVs; but the shine is fading on these family workhorses as well. Recognizing the creep of boredom, Ford performed a "re-think" of the segment and came up with the Flex; a fairly radical, somewhat nostalgic looking, six-seater featuring front-wheel-drive (FWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) configurations.

2009 Ford Flex SEL AWD Review
Monday, October 06, 2008
To a certain extent, the new Ford Flex embodies today's Western society, personifying excess in one of its most pleasing forms. How has Ford managed this? Simply by offering a fundamentally useful and practical car wrapped in a cutting edge package. The Flex's aesthetical calling is clearly to inflame our passion. No one is left indifferent by it: either you love it or you hate it, but you definitely react to it.

2008 Ford Fusion V6 SEL AWD Review
Thursday, September 25, 2008
I have always liked the look of this car. In fact, I find it hard not to stare at a Fusion when I see one on the road. I don't really know why that is, possibly that gorgeous 3-bar chromed grille, but perhaps it's because they just look so darn European! That is, until you open the door of one, and then you realize that Uncle Sam's lot have been busying themselves inside! The interior looks more Lincoln-like than anything produced on the banks of the Seine.

2009 Ford Flex First Impressions (video)
Thursday, June 12, 2008
Are you sick and tired of traditional minivans and SUVs? If so, Ford has quite an interesting proposal: the Flex. As far as versatile people haulers go, this one will go down in history as one of the most unique and eccentric. GM's crossover quartet (GMC Acadia, Saturn Outlook, Buick Enclave and Chevrolet Traverse) the Flex is a whole new take on the conventional family vehicle -- a new-age Taurus X, if you prefer.

2008 Ford Taurus SEL Road Test
Wednesday, February 27, 2008
The Ford Taurus is back... and quite different too. Well, sort of. By christening the replacement to the old Five Hundred with this legendary name, Ford created the largest Taurus ever. But is it the best? The new Taurus can appeal to many different types of customers. First, there are the hardcore fans and purists who know all the ins and outs of this car. If that's your case, you're probably aware that it used to be one of the best-selling, most reliable, low-cost sedans in Ford's entire history.

2007 Ford Edge SEL AWD Road Test
Wednesday, October 31, 2007
At first glance, Ford's new crossover utility vehicle (CUV) is attractive thanks to a modern, muscled and sporty appearance. Its youthful styling marks a radical departure from what we've been used to in terms of Ford trucks. No matter what angle you admire the Edge from and regardless of its body color, the design is a clear success. Fans are unanimous: the stylish new Edge appeals to all.

2007 Ford Edge SEL AWD Road Test
Tuesday, June 05, 2007
The Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV) market is blazing hot these days- and that's good for consumers. Ford realized that it had to up the ante to compete, and they did so with the introduction of the Edge. This vehicle has exceeded my expectations in two specific ways, the first of which is refinement.

2007 Ford Edge SEL AWD Road Test
Wednesday, April 04, 2007
Ford has seen better times, and everyone knows it. Sagging sales, an aging vehicle lineup, stronger competitors, nothing seems to be easy for Ford right now. However, I can honestly say that their cars and trucks aren't bad. They have their shortcomings, obviously, but in general, the Fords and Lincolns that I have driven in the last year were quite pleasing: Focus, Fusion, F-150, Explorer Sport Trac and Zephyr. Now, the Edge's keys landed on the corner of my desk.

2007 Ford Fusion SEL AWD Road Test
Wednesday, March 14, 2007
A given product is good. Since the automotive industry is driven by product, the final outcome of all the research and development has to be good. The Ford Fusion is good. It is perhaps the best overall car that Ford has to offer its customers at the moment. Without a doubt, you will agree that the Mustang is not a regular run-of-the-mill automobile and therefore, I am not referring to it when I say that the Fusion id Ford's most interesting car.

2006 Ford Fusion SEL V6 Road Test
Sunday, April 30, 2006
Sitting snuggly between the compact Focus and the grande Five Hundred is Ford's latest sedan, the mid-size yet spacious Fusion, which is just a whisper longer in overall length than the Toyota Camry (yes the 2007 model), Honda Accord and Hyundai Sonata. This new from the tarmac-up, front-wheel drive (FWD) 4-door offering utilizes Ford's highly acclaimed CD3 chassis architecture, also underpinning, albeit a shorter version, the Mazda6, to

2006 Ford Fusion SEL V6 Road Test
Sunday, April 16, 2006
I couldn't believe it. Jennifer, my wife, was very ill, so much so that it was impossible to attend the Los Angeles introduction of the new Fusion, a midsize car that is critical in the grand scheme of Ford's future, not to mention the competitiveness of Detroit's Big 3 overall. As much as the success Chrysler has had with its 300 sedan must irk execs in Dearborn and GM's downtown Detroit Renaissance Center, you'd think they'd have to

2006 Ford Fusion SEL V6 Road Test
Saturday, April 08, 2006
One of the most hotly contested segments in the car industry is the midsized sedans. If a manufacturer cannot breakthrough in this group, they will probably not achieve the success that they are looking for. In other words, manufacturers have to come up with winners to get a share of the sales pie otherwise, they pack up their bags and go home.

2006 Ford Fusion SEL i4 Road Test
Thursday, January 19, 2006
When it was announced in early 2004, we expected big things from the Ford Five Hundred, the supposed successor to the Ford Taurus (which is still in production). We got all excited and giddy about the idea of a Ford that was engineered in part by Volvo and would have all wheel drive. And while it's as safe as NORAD, compared to the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, and even the V8-powered Buick Lucerne, it hardly ...

2006 Ford Fusion SEL V6
Wednesday, November 23, 2005
Don't you just love checking out hot, young models? I sure do. So I spent some time with the hot new Ford Fusion which was recently released alongside a promise to spice things up in its segment. Fusion is a kind of cooking too, apparently. A chef friend of mine named David Koski tells me that it "combines elements of various regions onto one plate for a very unique experience". I tried it once, something like spaghetti and chicken balls. My take on fusion cooking was that each country should be on a different plate. Not here though. Built off the same CD-3 architecture as the Mazda 6, the Fusion fuses Japanese technology with American looks for a modern and unique package that's both dense and rugged like most American cars, with a confident, quality feel associated with most Japanese cars.

Follow-up Test: 2005 Ford Five Hundred AWD SEL
Friday, May 13, 2005
The Friendly Giant would lower his castle's drawbridge and welcome pre-school TV viewers with the words "Once upon a time, not long ago and not far away..." Slowly, the camera would start at Friendly's boot and pan up to his face while he instructed his tiny tot audience to "look up...W-A-AY UP!"

2005 Ford Freestyle SEL AWD Road Test (Video Clip)
Friday, February 25, 2005
Those that follow the automobile market may have noticed a resurgence of station wagons and wagon/minivan-like vehicles over the past few years. If you ask me, I would say it looks like the wagons are back but camouflaged into half SUVs/half minivans. The market is constantly evolving in the attempt to answer to a more demanding consumer. People's needs have not really changed, they have only progressed. During the 70s and 80s, huge land-yacht station wagons were in everyone's driveways. The saying goes that history repeats itself. In this case, customers want big family haulers...just not the ones their parents had. Enter the crossover minivan/SUV/station wagon.

2005 Ford Freestyle SEL AWD Road Test
Friday, February 18, 2005
Until the motoring public becomes more conversant with the name "Freestyle" and the term "crossover" as it applies to modern vehicles, owners of the new Ford had better get accustomed to conversations and smart-aleck remarks such as: "What are you driving these days?" "A Freestyle." "A Free-what?" "A Freestyle." "What the heck is a Freestyle?" "It's a crossover vehicle." "What the heck is a Freestyle crossover vehicle - a car for free-thinking cross-dressers?"

2005 Ford Five-Hundred SEL AWD
Saturday, December 18, 2004
Ford has been in dire need of a breath of fresh air for some time now. So, the people at FoMoCo decided to dip into their vast inventory of chassis and decided that the one found underneath the Volvo S80 / XC90, could be put to good use. The result is the Ford Five-Hundred, and its U.S. only twin the Mercury Montego. Some experts in the auto industry have compared the significance of the Five-Hundred to that of Ford's Model A. Much effort has been put into this car in an attempt to curb declining sales and to attract new interest in the Blue Oval's product line. The crossover Freestyle, basically the wagon version of the Five-Hundred, is part of this endeavour from Ford to draw as many consumers into their dealerships by offering a little something for everyone. The price range for the Five-Hundred, from the SE to the Limited, front-wheel and all-wheel drive, is between $29,295 to $38,845. The tester is an AWD SEL with the Safety Package and it retails for $35,860.

Gone is the dash-mounted flower vase in the latest version of Volkswagen's Bug. Gone too is much of its cutesiness, replaced by a notable degree of sportiness intended to broaden the Beetle's target market by attracting male attention.
