Yesterday marked the first time I've ever set foot on the SEMA show floor. I was expecting something big and, truth be told, it proved even bigger than I could have ever imagined. This show is HUGE! Just to add some perspective: The entire exhibition area covers more than 1 million square feet... or roughly the equivalent of 18 American football fields!

The Volkswagen Scirocco shown at the 2010 SEMA won the "Best European Import" award. This magnificent piece of work with a swapped 3.2-litre VR6 being boosted by two turbochargers results in a 550 horsepower with 500 lb-ft of torque. Already very impressive specs, but this is just the basic kit!

As far as highlights are concerned, this video has a little bit of everything. Local Motors is one cool outfit that needs to be explored further by all. Here's variety for you. How about an insane 1,400hp Lamborghini from Underground Racing? Fancy classic cars? We've got a custom-built Australian 1955 Cadillac. The Spectre booth is something to behold. Day 3 was our last day at SEMA 2009 -- and definitely not the most exciting day of the event. Of course, there are still thousands of exhibitors looking to strike a deal with the legions of potential buyers on hand. However, product launches are becoming excessively specialized, with the most interesting being some new suspension components.
