2012 Suzuki Grand Vitara Preview
Friday, December 23, 2011
We first drove the current-generation Suzuki Grand Vitara way back in February 2006, and it hasn't changed much since then. True, it received a couple of engine swaps during that time, but from an aesthetic standpoint, Suzuki left it virtually untouched.

Suzuki's SX4 hasn't seen major changes since 2007. In car years, that's a lot. The Japanese brand has been struggling recently in Canada, and recently met up with a few members of the media to give us a look at what's coming for the 2012 model year, as well as explain what they plan to do to get some momentum back. This includes the compact SX4.

2011 Japanese automaker report cards
Friday, December 30, 2011
Honda (Acura)
Oh la la. Talk about a sinking ship. This Japanese automaker had the industry copying its every move 15 years ago when the entire Honda and Acura lineups made non-owners green with envy. The Civic Si, the Acura Integra... now that was some car!

2012 Suzuki Kizashi First Impressions
Monday, December 19, 2011
No doubt, it's been a tough year for Suzuki in North America. In Canada, at the end of 2011, the Japanese brand will have sold about 6,000 units throughout the country, which amounts to a 40% plunge compared to 2010. With no new products in sight, the future sure doesn't look good.

2011 Suzuki Grand Vitara JLX-L Review
Sunday, October 02, 2011
After spending a week behind the wheel of Toyota's RAV4 just a few short weeks prior to driving the 2011 Suzuki Grand Vitara JLX-L, I was pleasantly surprised at how different the Suzuki actually was from the Toyota, despite my initial thought that I was going to get behind the wheel of the RAV4's twin.

Matt's No. 1 Off-Road Truck
Wednesday, August 31, 2011

2011 Suzuki Kizashi S Review
Saturday, April 09, 2011
There are so many mid-size sedans on the market that choosing one can be a difficult decision. Together, carmakers sell over a million of these every year in the US, and if you don't have a competent offering in that segment, you're basically giving away profits to your competitors.

2011 Suzuki SX4 JLX AWD Review
Friday, April 01, 2011
There are some hidden ''gems'' in today's mine of compact cars. The 2011 Suzuki SX4 Hatchback is one of them. Many drivers don't even know about it, thinking that Suzuki only builds motorcycles and ATVs. It's not their fault: the company's advertising money is largely spent on motorcycles and ATVs - not cars - leaving dealers in a vicious circle that makes it that much harder to promote interesting products like the SX4.

2011 Suzuki SX4 Sport Sedan Review
Saturday, April 16, 2011
It must be pretty frustrating for a manufacturer to spend years and millions of dollars to develop a new car or truck, just to see a lukewarm reception by the buying public. Slow sales due to an underwhelming product can happen, but when your car or truck is really good, gets good reviews from the media and is competitive in its segment, it must really hurt when you don't see it sell like it should.

2010 Suzuki Swift+ Review
Wednesday, February 02, 2011
Sometimes, you have to take one for the team. You're working defence at your ball-hockey game, the goaltender made a save on one side but gave up the rebound right in the hands of the other winger. The winger sees a nearly open net and winds up for the slap shot. You show up smack in-between the goalie and the shot and you take it on the thigh. It hurts but you took one for the team.

2011 Suzuki Kizashi Sport Review
Thursday, December 23, 2010
It's got style, it's got flair, it's fun to drive and it has an efficient all-wheel drive. You're thinking, "why, this is the perfect car", and you'd almost be right. But knowing car enthusiasts, because it's a Suzuki, many a buyer will hesitate before visiting the dealership or seriously considering owning one.

2010 Suzuki SX4 Hatchback JLX Review
Saturday, October 30, 2010
The Suzuki SX4 hatchback is no longer the freshly discovered species of our automotive fauna. It's already been around since 2007. Though less popular than the similarly sized Toyota Matrix, Volkswagen Golf and Nissan Versa, it nevertheless has one particularity that's rather important to many drivers across the country. Like the Subaru Impreza, it offers the undeniable advantages of all-wheel drive, particularly appreciated in winter.

2011 Suzuki Kizashi Review
Tuesday, October 12, 2010

2011 Suzuki Kizashi Sport First Impressions
Friday, September 10, 2010
St. Sauveur, Quebec - Last May, Japanese automaker Suzuki launched its largest and most sophisticated sedan ever in Canada. It's called Kizashi, which roughly translates into "something great is coming". Still hot from the oven, this surprising four-door deserves to be recognized for its many qualities. After all, there isn't anything quite like it in the brand's low-profile product family.

2011 Suzuki Kizashi Review
Sunday, July 25, 2010
In times of war, being stealthy is a strategical must. If your enemies know where you stand or are aware of the threat of an imminent attack, you may be good and screwed. That's the extent of my army-wartime knowledge. Thank goodness I drive cars and not tanks... Although, I wouldn't mind taking a Leopard C2 for a spin around town; I could cure road rage with just one swift flick of a lever... OK, sorry, I'm back.

2001-2006 Suzuki XL7 Pre-Owned
Saturday, July 10, 2010
Suzuki may be a small player in the global automotive scene-- but they're a brand that's big on fun and recreation, not to mention responsible for some of the most highly sought-after products in the enthusiast off-road community. The Japanese manufacturer has a history of building some solid vehicles, and they've got extensive experience with 4x4 and utility models, too. If you know an avid weekend off-roader, chances are they've got some kind of Suzuki related story about a Sidekick or Samurai that still bombs around in the dirt reliably.

2010 Suzuki Grand Vitara Review
Saturday, February 13, 2010
Suzuki hasn't exactly received good press for a number of years -- and understandably so. Prior to the all-new 2011 Kizashi, no Suzuki product has particularly stood out in the minds of the media and consumers alike. Sure, pricing is affordable, but build quality and powertrain capability tend to suffer as a result.

2010 Midsize Sedan Comparative Road Test
Monday, May 31, 2010
Social media being what it is, we, at Auto123.com, posted some pictures and comments about our upcoming comparison road test on our Facebook page (Auto123.com). We listed the cars slated for evaluation and shortly afterwards, comments came pouring in, asking why this car and that car were not included in the test. First, we can't test them all. Second, we limit ourselves to a segment and third, we try and have them carry similar powertrains and levels of kit.

2010 Suzuki Grand Vitara JLX-L V6 Review
Friday, April 23, 2010
The Suzuki Vitara is old news. Introduced in 1988, it's in fact a contemporary of the Jeep Cherokee, the grandaddy of all SUVs. The Vitara has become known as « Grand » over the years, both figuratively and literally. As it has grown in size and gained muscle mass since the days of the first Vitaras, so too has its equipment considerably improved. However, one thing never changed: the Japanese machine has always remained a hard-core SUV, ready to tackle the deepest, darkest woods. This is one book you can judge by its cover.

2010 Suzuki SX4 Aero Hatchback Review
Monday, March 22, 2010
Judging by the number of diminutive SX4s we see on the roads here in Quebec, there is no question that Suzuki has caught the attention of the province with its little hatchback number. For 2010, the automaker is introducing a new mid-range, front-wheel-drive variant called the Aero. With the SX4, mid-range means slightly over $22,000, which in my book doesn't necessarily make it a bargain.

2010 Suzuki SX4 Sport Sedan Review
Thursday, April 15, 2010
Bring on the improvements, but keep the weirdness. That seems to be the strategy for the Suzuki SX4. The company's compact offering is interesting, no doubt. Available in hatchback and sedan configurations, the SX4 tries to please everybody, but especially those who can't stand conformity.

2004-2008 Suzuki Swift Pre-owned

Looking for a used economical little car? There are many to choose from-- though choices become limited for folks after a ride that's not likely to be seen at every traffic light. Though the market offers plenty of selection in the small car scene, the majority of models on the road today wear a Honda or Toyota badge.

2009 Suzuki XL7 JLX AWD Review

Suzuki - 100 years of innovation
Wednesday, July 22, 2009
Suzuki; a global company that continues to grow in reputation, popularity and success celebrates its centenary this October. Back in 1909, Michio Suzuki founded the Suzuki Loom Company in Hamamatsu, Southern Japan and it was while manufacturing looms for production of plain white fabric he learned that weavers wanted looms that could produce cloth with vertical and horizontal stripes; so he developed a unique loom capable of weaving patterned cloth from dyed yarn. Suzuki's new innovation represented the start of an uncompromising focus on creating products that meet people's needs and realise new lifestyle possibilities.

2009 Suzuki Swift+ Review
Sunday, March 29, 2009
It goes without saying that purchasing a Suzuki Swift+ is not an emotional decision. It's a matter of necessity. And yet, few people are buying it. Less than 2,000 units have found takers in Canada last year, while overall econobox sales amounted to over 150,000 cars.

2008 Suzuki SX4 DDIS Review (video)
Monday, February 23, 2009
In these times of yo-yo gas prices and growing environmental concerns in the auto industry, diesel fuel is starting to look more and more appealing. Several automakers have come up with clean diesel engines, like Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz with BlueTEC. Gas-oil also seems to have a bright future.

The future looks bright for Suzuki (video)

Suzuki Canada has made a startling discovery. While all the other automakers established in Canada have rather bleak prospects for the future, Suzuki is riding on a wave of success. Success that Bill Porter, Suzuki's vice-president of sales and marketing, explains is namely due to a brand-new clientele just now discovering the manufacturer.

It's curtains for the Pontiac G8 Sport Truck, Honda S2000 and Suzuki Kizashi
Friday, January 09, 2009
Seeing the automotive industry's current condition, it was just a matter of time before some models were put to pasture. The first vehicles to be dropped are obviously those intended for a market segment where sales are limited and production costs high because of the high level of technological advancement. And so, Honda has announced the cancellation of the next generation of its rear-wheel-drive S2000 sport roadster.

2009 Suzuki SX4 JLX AWD Review
Monday, December 29, 2008
Suzuki has a history of producing small all-wheel drive cars. In fact, their success in European endurance rallies is a testament to all the expertise they've gained over the years. However, very few of the brand's capable machines have found their way to the Canadian market as production models. Sure, there were a couple of decent SUVs and other worthy products, but sadly, Suzuki had never offered a vehicle like the SX4 before.

2009 Suzuki SX4 Sport sedan Review
Friday, December 05, 2008
It's hard to attract more and more buyers in your showroom with a model range of just five vehicles. But that doesn't seem to worry Suzuki. Slowly but surely is the strategy here, and they never seem to make mistakes; that is, if we excuse the X-90, a T-topped 2-seater cute-ute that unsurprisingly flopped.

2009 Suzuki Grand Vitara JLX-L Review
Sunday, January 04, 2009
The Grand Vitara is like an old friend you're always happy to see again. It doesn't undergo a radical personality change every chance it gets, and its steadfastness is reassuring. Yet the current generation, introduced in 2006, still doesn't offer the smooth ride of a Honda CR-V or the spirit of a Toyota RAV4 V6.

2009 Suzuki Grand Vitara JX Review
Wednesday, November 26, 2008
When the Grand Vitara was redesigned for the 2006 model year, the 4-cylinder Vitara bit the dust. Suzuki's compact SUV was left with only one engine which was shared with the old XL7. For a few years, it was sufficient. Now, as SUV owners are downsizing, 4-cylinder trucks are the new trend. Toyota's RAV4, Ford's Escape and Mazda's Tribute have all received engine upgrades for 2009, so Suzuki didn't have much choice but to follow suit. And the Grand Vitara actually gets two new engines for 2009, a four and a more-powerful six.

2002-2006 Suzuki Aerio Fastback Pre-Owned
Saturday, October 18, 2008
Sometimes, a car has to be everything to everyone: a minivan, crossover, sports sedan and an SUV. The Suzuki Aerio Wagon was one machine that tackled a plethora of tasks exceptionally well, while earning itself a reputation for its high value proposition and access to cheap AWD. The Aerio lineup has now been retired to make way for the new SX4, though it enjoyed favor with thousands of active buyers after a high-utility economy car.

2008 Suzuki SX4 DDIS Review
Tuesday, September 23, 2008
Canadian diesel enthusiasts are probably getting a bit tired of the seemingly endless taunting going on lately. On an almost weekly basis, press releases are sent our way by automakers boasting some new clean diesel engine that promises attractive performance and mileage. Then, the press release ends with a line like 'the model is not for sale in North America'- leaving readers only to guess why those in our marketplace aren't deserving.

2008 Suzuki Grand Vitara JLX Review
Wednesday, August 20, 2008
Suzuki has been around in Canada for several years now, with dealers in almost every region. However, the brand seldom comes to mind when shopping for a new sport utility vehicle. What makes this even more shocking is the fact that Suzuki was one of the first car companies to offer compact SUVs in North America. While Suzukis are not a common sight on the road, the Japanese manufacturer keeps playing an active role in this market segment. The Grand Vitara V6 certainly deserves attention from consumers.

2007 Suzuki XL7 JLX Review
Friday, July 25, 2008
Neither the first nor the second generation of the Suzuki XL7 is an original product. The former was nothing more than an extra-large, 7-passenger Grand Vitara -- hence the name XL7.The latter, meanwhile, is the result of a partnership with General Motors. Largely based on the Chevrolet Equinox and Pontiac Torrent, it uses the same architecture and powertrain as well as a similar interior layout.
