2013 Chevrolet Traverse Preview

The 2013 Chevrolet Traverse offers lots of room - and then some more. Now in its fifth year, this large crossover continues to win over families with its 7- and 8-passenger configurations. GM has made a number of upgrades for 2013 that should further help the Traverse stand out from competitors such as the Honda Pilot and Ford Explorer.

If you haven't yet set foot in a Chevrolet Traverse, or in a Buick Enclave, a GMC Acadia or a now-defunct Saturn Outlook for that matter, you probably don't realize just how spacious this SUV is. GM might prefer calling it a crossover, which sounds more environmentally friendly. Whatever.

Not all of us need the space, but a big vehicle with accommodations for seven people and lots of cargo space is necessary for some. You can't take the family on a week-long road trip with an Aveo5, and you can't haul a sofa in a Cobalt. And yet, a big vehicle such as the Traverse is out of fashion right now, so timing isn't great for Chevrolet's new family wagon.

General Motors has presented the latest addition to the Chevrolet family, the Traverse. Like the Buick Enclave, the Saturn Outlook and the GMC Acadia, the Chevrolet Traverse is an SUV based on the Lambda platform. With a base price of $34,655, the Traverse will be the most affordable of the lot.

This one's called the Traverse, and GM says that's it's an expressively styled and well equipped machine that packs large SUV space and capability into a smaller package. Styled in line with the new Chevrolet Malibu, the American automaker promises to deliver bold styling and refined details for a premium look and feel.
