2010 BMW X6 M Review
Monday, May 03, 2010
If you can come up with a better title with a reference to a Darth, let me know. I was reading my buddy Michel's review on the cube and his experience driving around in it. In a nutshell, he didn't feel very manly behind the wheel of the diminutive mail truck. When it comes to the BMW X6, the experience registers at the other end of the spectrum.

2010 BMW ActiveHybrid X6 Review
Thursday, April 22, 2010
I know, I've said it many times before, but the controversially-styled BMW X6 looks to me like a direct cousin of the late Pontiac Aztek, only much better executed. In both cases, the long, arching roofline stretches all the way to the rear bumper and makes for nightmarish rearward visibility. What's more, both the X6 and Aztek can be viewed as oversized variants of traditional crossover SUVs.

2010 BMW X6 M Review
Friday, December 25, 2009
When I picked up the 2010 BMW X6 M, I sent out a tweet (@RobRothwell) asking rhetorically, "can an SUV have too much power?" After all, 555 horsepower could probably speed up one of Germany's high-speed ICE trains.

2010 BMW X6 ActiveHybrid First Impressions
Wednesday, November 11, 2009
Bal Harbour, Florida. A lot of rich and famous people own a pied-à-terre in Florida --that's a fact. Forbes magazine actually counted over 20 Floridians among the richest men and women in the world. Therefore, it's no surprise that BMW chose an upscale suburb of the Miami area to introduce international auto journalists to the all-new 2010 BMW X6 ActiveHybrid, a.k.a. the most powerful production hybrid SUV in the world.

2010 BMW X6 M First Impressions
Wednesday, July 08, 2009
BMW has just introduced the very first M sport utility vehicle in its history. When you take control of the wheel and step on the gas, you feel the same excitement as when you buy something that you fundamentally don't need but that you've always dreamed of to gratify your passion.

2010 BMW X5 M and X6 M Preview
Wednesday, May 27, 2009
BMW had no choice but to introduce "M" versions of its SUVs. Not that the market for high-performance SUVs is very broad, but a company defined by driving pleasure can't let the likes of Mercedes-Benz, Land Rover, Porsche and even Jeep get the better of it in this province.

BMW adds 'M' badge to X5, X6

As if a 400-horspeower, twin-turbo engine wasn't enough sauce in the standard BMW X6 xDrive50i, the German brand has shown the world even more of its evil side with the new X5 M and X6 M.

2009 BMW X6 xDrive50i Review (video)
Thursday, March 26, 2009
Nameless at the time, my young brain had whipped up an imaginary vehicle I'd someday own. It was truck-hulky, sportscar-sleek, very high-tech, and so radical looking that my friends would be jealous. Under the hood? A race-car engine, of course.

2009 BMW X6 xDrive50i Review (video)
Wednesday, December 24, 2008
The 2009 BMW X6 is quite a strong-character vehicle and, much like with humans, this character can be pretty intimidating at first glance. It's entirely possible that you find it unattractive and want to look elsewhere, but give it a chance and you'll see how fast this bold new vehicle can grow on you.

Latest BMW X6 pictures!
Wednesday, August 29, 2007
We've seen X6 prototypes before, but these are much closer to home! These are among the first prototype pictures from the States, but unlike the pictures previously sent - these were shot in the western part of the U.S. There are a number of performance SUVs on the market, but the X6 is taking a unique styling approach which appears to be the most form-over-function SUV design effort seen to date.

2008 BMW X6 xDrive 35i Review
Wednesday, September 03, 2008
Just when we were coming to grips with vehicle formats and their associated acronyms, BMW tosses another pigment into the mosaic, and it's a fascinating hue. The X6 is referred to by BMW as a 'Sports Activity Coupe' so add 'SAC' to the varied list of acronyms defining the many iterations of the modern chariot. This SUV-gone-coupe stretches the meaning of each segment while merging their respective attributes to create a standalone class of vehicle not yet replicated by any other manufacturer.

2008 BMW X6 xDrive35i Review
Thursday, May 15, 2008
For a few years now, automakers have been exploring new market segments in order to attract even more people to their showrooms. Crossovers have proven to be quite successful; on the other hand, there are new vehicle types which do not seem to take off. For instance, a couple of years ago, Infiniti managed to juxtapose an SUV with a sports car to create a radically-styled machine; however, very few companies have tried to emulate them due to fears of a failed surgery.

Detroit 2008: BMW X6 ActiveHybrid Concept
Friday, January 18, 2008
Following the world premiere of the X6 Sport Activity Coupe, BMW did not waste any time before launching the X6 ActiveHybrid Concept, a new technological breakthrough showcasing the EfficientDynamics strategy (also introduced in Detroit). It represents the industry's shift to lower-emission vehicles. The highlight of this concept is by far the new two-mode active transmission: one mode for maximum torque when pulling away and in low-speed driving, and a second mode for higher speeds and bursts of acceleration. This innovative transmission allows the Bavarian automaker to maintain the same outstanding driving dynamics while improving fuel economy by 20 percent. BMW created this technology to be easily installed to any other model; it could be made available by 2010 in various markets.
