2012 BMW Z4 sDrive28i First Impressions
Friday, September 30, 2011
The BMW Z4 is a good car. It's good fun to drive, good to look at and generally good to own. It's a good car. There were few, if any, things wrong with it. But now, they've gone and made it gooder. Yes, yes they have.

New York 2011: BMW confirms 4-cylinder engine for Z4 roadster
Tuesday, April 19, 2011
Last week, BMW promised a new four-cylinder vehicle for the North American market. Right on the eve of the New York Auto Show (April 22-May 1, 2011), the German automaker ended the suspense by announcing that the Z4 roadster will receive the same 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo engine as the X1 xDrive28i.

2011 BMW Z4 sDrive35is Review
Friday, October 29, 2010
What's sleek, fast, has a retractable hard top and a penchant for luxury and performance? If you know your cars, there are many that could fit this description. One of them is the subject of this review. The BMW Z4, especially since its most recent facelift, is clearly one of those cars that many guys and gals point to and say: "one day, I'll have one in the garage".

Katarina Witt's Instinct for Ice and Snow
Wednesday, May 19, 2010
Munich. Sun, rain, ice and snow "at the push of a button" - all climate zones of the world in one building in northern Munich. This piques curiosity and provides for optimal conditions for a special type of photo shoot. "I heard you can make weather here." With this sentence, the two-time Olympic champion Katarina Witt greeted the Manager of Efficient Dynamics at the BMW Group, Dr. Johannes Liebl, during her visit to the BMW Group's Energy and Environmental Test Centre (ETC). "I'd like to have some sun - I've had enough ice and snow this last winter."

2009 BMW Z4 sDrive35i Review
Monday, October 19, 2009
BMW is no stranger to roadsters. Perhaps one of the famous cars the Bayerische Motoren Werke AG company has ever produced was a roadster: the revered and highly collectable 1936-1940 328. Produced in only 464 examples, this two-door two-seater twin kidney-grille-sporting elegant automobile has graced many a poster on enthusiasts' walls.

2009 BMW Z4 sDrive35i Review
Thursday, October 01, 2009
A colleague from the technical department was literally drooling with envy when I told him the subject of my latest road test. In fact, as soon as he saw the car enter the parking lot of our offices, he couldn't stop staring at it through the window. Of course, this guy bleeds BMW blue, but the fact is that anyone out there can recognize the style, charisma and excitement of the all-new 2009 Z4.

2009 BMW Z4 sDrive35i Review (video)
Tuesday, November 10, 2009
The votes are in, the scores are tabulated and the jury's deliberated: the new BMW Z4 is a sexy beast. It's more serious and far more elegant than the last Z4, and this third-generation roadster-rocket makes those nearby stare and gush comments. Many of these include words like 'gorgeous', 'drop-dead sexy', or 'wow'.

2009 BMW Z4 at the Vancouver Auto Show
Monday, March 30, 2009
Hearts will pound and loss of breath will surely follow as eyes fall upon the new, second generation BMW Z4 Roadster. Its elongated hood and short rear deck emphasize the car's strength in both form and function. The new lines are unmistakably Z4 but in a smoother, less "Bangle'ized" fashion that's sure to broaden the car's appeal.

BMW shows off 7-Series Active Hybrid and Z4 in Toronto
Wednesday, February 11, 2009
After presenting the X6 Active Hybrid in Toronto last year, it's the new 7-Series' turn to show off the gas and electric powertrain. Jointly developed with Chrysler and GM, BMW's version of the hybrid unit features two electric motors and a 4.4-litre V8 that is said to develop over 400 horsepower. An 8-speed automatic is part of the deal, and the ActiveHybrid should offer a 15% fuel consumption improvement over the conventional 7-Series.

BMW's Z4 roadster goes topless on NAIAS stage
Sunday, January 11, 2009
Just months after production of the last-generation BMW Z4 ended, the popular roadster has been updated, redesigned, and sent to Detroit to bow in front of NAIAS showgowers. The 2009 Z4 will boast the longest wheelbase in its class, as well as a folding aluminum top that opens and closes in just 20 seconds. Power will come from a pair of inline six-cylinder engines--topping out with a 300-horsepower punch delivered by a pair of turbochargers and direct-injection technology.

Two new Z4 models coming this spring
Monday, December 15, 2008
After ending Z4 roadster production this past summer, BMW has announced the availability of two all-new Z4 models this springtime. Available for power will be a pair of 3.0 liter straight-six engines. The first generates 255 horses and 220 lb.-ft. of torque at 2,600 rpm and is naturally aspirated.

2010 BMW Z4 spied!
Tuesday, October 14, 2008
Our spies have lifted the lid on the next-generation BMW Z4 and the big news is that instead of a fabric top, the new version of this roadster follows the footsteps of its 3-Series Convertible sibling and its Mercedes-Benz SLK rival with a retractable steel top. As the pictures of this mildly disguised Z4 prototype suggest, the styling seems more muscular. Rumor has it, the new Z4 will likely offer a twin-turbo 3.0-liter straight six-cylinder powerplant! And we hear there's even the possibility that the Z4 will be available with diesel power for the first time!

End of the line for the BMW Z4
Wednesday, September 03, 2008
Even before revealing the successor to its popular roadster, BMW has stopped production of the Z4 E85 roadsters and E86 coupes. Available as a roadster since 2002 and as a coupe since 2006, the model was assembled at the Spartanburg plant in South Carolina. The last car rolled off the line on August 27. Enthusiasts will henceforth have to make do with the leftover inventory.

2008 BMW Z4 3.0si Review (video)
Wednesday, July 30, 2008
Having to decide on a roadster is a nice problem to have - but it can leave buyers in a world of compromise. A two-seat drop-top is one of the least sensible modes of four-wheeled transportation around - though some are easier to live with than others. The BMW Z4 replaced the Z3 model back in 2002, offering a stiff chassis, powerful engine lineup and great looks.

2007 BMW Z4 3.0si Road Test
Thursday, October 25, 2007
Probabilities can mislead. For example, the probability of enjoying a week of solid sunshine in Canada's rain forest concurrent with testing a roadster is as unlikely as being struck be a meteorite while hundreds of feet below the ground in a subterranean vault- but I guess it could happen. And so it did for me recently. The meteorite in question- a 2007 BMW Z4 3.0si.

2007 BMW Z4 3.0si Road Test
Wednesday, August 15, 2007
When a car is meant to be driven, and I mean really driven, you can sense it the moment your bum hits the well-upholstered, leather bucket seats. Such was the case for this powerhouse convertible; the 2007 BMW Z4 3.0si. Even as you walk towards this vehicle it begs to be driven; crouched low to the ground, and all wound up at the back as if sprung and ready to take off at any moment.

2006 BMW Z4 Coupe
Monday, January 09, 2006
For 2006, BMW is treating its enthusiast with a Coupe version of the Z4 cabrio. We all remember the Z3 M Coupe; either you loved or loathed it. This time around, it is clearly a love affair.

2005 BMW Z4 3.0i
Wednesday, August 17, 2005
For those of us that love roadsters and driving with the top down (I have the sun blisters on my ears to prove it), we realistically have one manufacturer to thank: Mazda. Without the MX-5 Miata, there would not have been any Porsche Boxster, BMW Z3, Mercedes SLK and Honda S2000. Since late 1989, the above-mentioned car makers have taken the roadster revival and added their own distinctive twists to their offerings.

THE NEW BMW Z4 ROADSTER
Tuesday, July 02, 2002
Munich... As the last Z3 roadster rolls off the assembly line at the BMW Manufacturing Corp. in Spartanburg, South Carolina, BMW Group announced today that it will be presenting an all new roadster at the Paris Motor Show in late September - the breathtaking new Z4. This open two-seater not only marks another highlight in BMW's new design language, but also sets new standards in its class: The Z4 is powerful, sporting and aesthetic in its design and looks, it offers extremely precise and safe handling, and therefore guarantees driving pleasure of the highest calibre.

Gone is the dash-mounted flower vase in the latest version of Volkswagen's Bug. Gone too is much of its cutesiness, replaced by a notable degree of sportiness intended to broaden the Beetle's target market by attracting male attention.
