Audi team will develop and run the A5 model, replacing the A4, in the brand new DTM starting in 2012 with new technical regulations.
2011 will be the last season for the successfull A4 DTM, which took four drivers titles with Mattias Ekström (2004 and 2007) and Timo Scheider (2008 and 2009). After four rounds in the 2011 season, Martin Tomczyk is leading the provisional classification before the Norisring, with his 2008-spec A4.

Before Audi Motorsport official arrival in DTM in 2004, team Abt Sportsline ran two Audi TT, and clinched drivers title with Laurent Aïello in 2002. Abt Sportsline still runs the Audi A4 work cars, and will continue its collaboration with Audi in 2012 and beyond.
BMW will make its DTM return in 2012 with the M3 Coupé, and will present its new DTM car in Münich in two weeks.
