Former Formula 1 driver David Coulthard recently had very good words for his new Mercedes DTM teammate, Canadian Bruno Spengler, currently on top of the DTM point standings.
With two wins, two-second places and a third, Spengler, one of the four Mercedes HWA works drivers, leads the point standings at the mid-season point.
David Coulthard is now a fan of Spengler. The Scot thinks Spengler has the talent, the commitment and the personality to make it into Formula 1, especially if he wins the DTM title this season. Coulthard spoke very highly of Spengler in an interview posted on the German web site motorsport-total.com. “He is very focused and does exactly what one should expect from a professional racing driver. He has worked very hard during the last winter, he spent a lot of time with the team, and he is a true professional,” said Coulthard who drove in F1 for Williams, McLaren and Red Bull. “"Even if he is on pole position, he smiles at the camera and shows real enthusiasm for his job. He is very enthusiastic on the podium and he never shows his disappointment. He is a breeze of fresh air in the DTM. Bruno is fully aware that he is extremely lucky to race in the DTM and drive these fabulous race cars. He is the perfect example of what a driver should do to win a title. And if he wins it this year, it will be the direct result of all his hard work,” Coulthard said.
