German driver Maro Engel (Mercedes) was quickest of the field in the second day of the DTM collective tests in Valencia.
For the second consecutive day, a 2008-spec car set the best performance, after Alexandre Premat’s Audi A4 was quickest on Wednesday. Engel set a lap in 1’28’’949 ahead of Timo Scheider’s Audi « 2009+ » (1’28’’957) and Mathias Ekstrom’s Audi (1’28’’992). Canadian driver Bruno Spengler set the fifth best performance in his 2009+ Mercedes (1’29’’205), ahead of teammate Ralf Schumacher (1’29’’345). Former Formula 1 driver David Coulthard, who set a very impressive performance aboard his 2008 C Class on Wednesday, will not take part to the three days remaining, due to his commitments for British TV broadcaster BBC at the Australian GP in Melbourne this weekend.
