Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo, winner of the british Formula 3 championship, could make his debuts in Formula one in 2011.
After Sebastian Vettel, Sebastien Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari, another young gun may enter the Formula 1 field quite soon : Daniel Ricciardo. Ricciardo was born 20 years ago in Perth, Australia, his parents are italian and moved to Australia prior to their son’s birth.
After some promissing debuts in F. BMW Asia Pacific, Ricciardo was detected by Marco Zecchi, who worked for Ferrari F1, and already worked for Gianni Morbidelli and Robert Doornbos’ carreer. Daniel Ricciardo moved to Formula Renault 2.0 Italia in 2007 (6th), and was selected by Red Bull at the end of this season. The Australian get strong performances in the next seasons : F. Renault 2.0 WEC champion, and F. Renault Eurocup runner-up in 2008, then british Formula 3 champion although he was rookie in 2009 (as did Jaime Alguersuari in 2008). Next season, Daniel Ricciardo will move up to World Series Renault 3.5 with Tech 1. He already dominated the first test sessions this week in Barcelona, and is already one of the main favourites for 2010 title. Last step before Formula 1 ? Photos: www.jakobebrey.com
