Although nothing has been confirmed, it looks like five-time World Rally Champion Sebastien Loeb is getting prepared to contest his first Formula 1 Grand Prix.
Loeb has been racing karts in recent months and has scheduled a test aboard a GP2 series’ single seater at Jerez de la Frontera in Spain. The performance of aGP2 car as relatively close to that of an F1 car. The rumour mill say that Loeb would be driving a Red Bull-owned Toro Rosso in the maiden Abu Dhabi Grand Prix next month. Red Bull already sponsors Loeb and the Citroen world rally team. In the final day of GP2 testing at Jerez, Marcus Ericsson, the winner of this year's Japanese Formula 3 title, set the fastest time while Loeb was slowest of the field of 25 drivers. Driving for DPR, Loeb was 18th in the morning, but the rally champion slipped back to last in the afternoon session. Photos: WRI2
