The Seat Leon Supercopa driven by Jacques Villeneuve, Jordi Gené and Pierre-Yves Corthals suffered from a mechanical problem early in the 12 hours of Spa-Francorchamps held last weekend.
They started the race second in the T3 class but the Seat Leon was quickly forced to stop in the pit lane. “We suffered from an electrical problem on lap 2,” Villeneuve told Auto123.com. “We lost several laps while repairing the car. Then, we rejoined the fray in treacherous conditions, as the track was wet but drying at other places. I really enjoyed driving in these conditions. The Leon was really quick and I was running faster lap times than the leaders. Unfortunately, we were then hit by a gearbox failure”. The No 38 Leon eventually sliced through the field from 44th to 28th, 7th in their class, having completed 172 laps of the picturesque Spa-Francorchamps circuit. “It was a fun race. I really enjoyed it,” said Villeneuve. The race was won by Nicolas De Crem, Marc Goossens and Julien Schroven aboard an Audi A4. Photos: Jacques Letihon
