FG Group, the company that currently works on setting up the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Rome, will launch a new GT series in 2010: the Superstars GT Sprint.
This new series will be opened to GT2, GT3 and GT4 cars. Six meetings are scheduled for 2010, with two sprint races to be run each weekend. Superstars GT Sprint races will be presented alongside Superstars races, which will run production-based car models with engines developing up to 500 horsepower in a sort of Italian DTM. Seceral former F1 stars, such as Gianni Morbidelli, Pierluigi Martini and Nigel Mansell are expected to compete. However, three Superstars GT Sprint meetings will clash with FIA GT2 and FIA GT3 events, while the fourth round held in Hockenheim will be staged on the same weekend as the Le Mans 24 hours race.
