Chevrolet could run five Cruzes in next year's World Touring Car Championship (TCC), instead of just three this year.
Neither Seat, nor BMW have already confirmed their commitment in the 2010 WTCC season, but Eric Neve, Chevrolet Europe motorsport director, told Autosport magazine that his team will probably expand to five cars next year, in order to target the constructors championship. Seat driver Yvan Muller (2008 world champion) would be linked with the American constructor, and BTCC driver Fabrizio Giovanardi could also join the squad, while Alain Menu and Rob Huff looked to be confirmed for another year. Meanwhile, Ford could be considering a move to the WTCC in 2011. The universal 1.6-litre turbo charged engine that will be used in both World Rally Championship and WTCC would help the company to move to the WTCC. Moreover, the USA-venue in 2011 (Miami?) would be attractive for the American car maker in the championship. Photos: WTCC
