Three tracks are being considered to host a race of the FIA WTCC, the World Touring Car Championship in 2010.
The first possibility is Tolyatti where Russian car manufacturer Lada is based, which is ready to build a permanent road circuit. The budget is believed to be in place and the plan has the support of the local authority. However, the city is located 800km east of Moscow. A street circuit in Moscow is another possibility. This time, money seems to be a problem. The city of St. Petersburg is the third candidate and has the huge advantage of its proximity to the rest of Europe. This time there are concerns over a lack of space to hold the event in the city. The final decision will be made by the end of April and the event should be held in August 2010. Photos: WTCC
