Brazilian Grand Prix Formula 1 venue Interlagos – also known as Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace – began a major revamp.
The heavy equipment started resurfacing the track and pit lane. While drivers enjoy the layout of the circuit, cars don't as much because of the bumpy surface. This unpleasant feature of the Brazilian circuit may well disappear after the resurfacing of the track and pit lane which should be completed before the F1 Grand Prix takes place early November. The new asphalt is only the first stage of a modernisation project in full swing at a cost of $80 million, agreed upon by the city of São Paulo who manage the venue. After this year's F1 race, the current cramped pit complex will be demolished and then rebuilt to a higher specification. This will give the teams larger garages and should also increase the paddock space behind them.
