Lewis Hamilton pursues his excellent week-end by taking the pole at Shanghai. He will start in front of the two Ferraris of Kimi Raikkonen and title contender Felipe Massa.
Fernando Alonso, newly nicknamed the "King of Asia" in Formula 1 with his two back-to-back victory in the last two races, will complete the second row with a fourth place. Robert Kubica's problems with his settings continued during qualification and the only other title contender in the current championship will start from sixth row, in 11th position. Mark Webber realised the sixth time, but his engine failure cost him 10 places on the grid; he will start from the 16th spot.
