Daniel Ricciardo set today the fastest time overall in the final day of young drivers F1 test session held at Jerez in southern Spain.
Ricciardo was again driving the Renault-powered Red Bull Racing RB5. He set a fast time 1:17.418, probably on a low tank of fuel, simulating a qualifying run. Mercedes DTM driver Paul di Resta was impressive at the wheel of the Force India, clinching the second time. Gary Paffett, driving the McLaren, was third ahead of Mike Conway (Brawn), Nico Hulkenberg (Williams) and Bertrand Baguette (Sauber BMW). The top three finishers of the 2009 Italian Formula 3 Championship had their first taste of F1 power. Pablo Sanchez Lopez, Daniel Zampieri and Marco Zipoli did a fine job and ranked 11th, 12th and 13th respectively. The track was wet in the afternoon, explaining some mysteriously slow lap times.
