British Formula 1 team McLaren will most probably run an interim car for the first winter test held at Circuito Ricardo Tormo of Valencia, Spain during the first week of February.
McLaren indicated last week that the new, Mercedes-powered new MP4-26 would be unveiled on February 4th in Europe. However, the first test of the new season is scheduled for February 1st to 3rd in Valencia.
Autosport magazine writes that McLaren will probably run an updated version of the 2010 MP4-25, fitted with aerodynamic components and updates of the 2011 challenger. This would allow for a few extra days of development and wind tunnel testing before the new car is shown to the world on February 4. Running last year’s proven car will also provide McLaren engineers and driver with a unique chance to collect very useful data about the way the old car operates when shod with the new 2011 Pirelli tires.
