Canadian company Processia Solutions is about to unveil the signature of a technical agreement with a second Formula 1 team.
Processia Solutions is based in Laval, Quebec. It is a company with a primary focus on assisting enterprises with their implementation of CAD/CAM/PLM solutions (Computer Aided Design and Product Lifecycle Management), mainly the solutions from Dassault Systèmes. The enterprise offers a comprehensive line of services that include consulting, solution design, application integration and implementation services. Since 2004, Processia Solutions is an official supplier of the Renault Formula 1 Team. The work consiststo identify, define, develop and implement solutions capable of improving processes, in order to optimize the design cycles of new cars and maximize the synergy between members of the racing team. Vincent Fraser, Vice-President, PLM Solutions, exclusively told Auto123.com that the company has signed an agreement to work with a second major F1 team. “We already have four people working in-house over there. We will make an official announcement about this new partnership soon,” Fraser said. “The budget cap set by the FIA will limit the number of people working in the F1 factory of each team, the number of people travelling to the races, and the amount of money spent during a season. The F1 teams will need to maximize the way they spend every dollar,” he added. “This particular team asked us to work on new computer systems that will facilitate the design and the development of the car, and ease the flow of the technical data circulating between the design office, the race team and the test team.” Some fascinating projects are being investigated. “Since the teams will need to reduce the personnel they bring to the races, we could see the development of a new tool such as a virtual pit lane located inside the factory,” said Fraser. “Only mechanics and a few engineers would be physically at the race track, while most top engineers would work at the factory in this virtual garage that would be fed live with the data of the computers located at the circuit.” Vincent Fraser added that this team is already working hard on 2011, as it will mark the implementation of the new FIA rules about budget cap and reduction of team personnel.
