Young Swiss driver Sébastien Buemi extended his domination of this week's test at Jerez in Spain with the fastest time on Thursday, just edging out his Scuderia Toro Rosso teammate Takuma Sato.
Buemi and Sato beat Heikki Kovalainen of McLaren and Kimi Raikonen of Ferrari. Most teams worked on assessing the new Bridgestone slick tires and the new, reduced levels of downforce imposed for 2009. Teams McLaren and BMW-Sauber resumed the development of their KERS systems.
