The Federation Internationale de l'Automobile is set to fine-tune the new Formula 1 engine rule that specifies when a motor can be changes without being given a penalty.
According to British magazine Autosport, teams will not be allowed to perform an engine change after the start of Saturday morning practice session. Under the new rules, the engine cannot be changed on Saturday, ensuring that the teams use the same unit for Practice 3, the qualifying session and the race. An engine change will only be allowed if there was a definite problem with the original motor. In 2009 each driver is awarded 8 engines for the entire season, and grid penalties are only applied when a ninth unit is used. Photos: WRI2
