Despite harsh economic times the IndyCar series officials expect that at least 22 cars will be on the grid for the opening round of the 2009 season in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Confirmed already are the four cars from Andretti Green Racing, two apiece from Penske and Ganassi, and the Vision Racing, Foyt, Dreyer & Reinbold, Panther, Newman/Haas/Lanigan, HVM, KV, Luczo Dragon and 3G teams all announcing one car each so far. In the mean time Conquest, Dale Coyne, Pacific Coast and Rahal Letterman have yet to reveal their plans although the latter stated that they could sit out this season. At least 18 cars should participate in next week's pre-season test at Homestead. Photos: IndyCar - Jim Haynes
