The IRL will create a committee which will be solely responsible for making recommendations for the series future chassis and engine that should be introduced in 2012.
Many proposals have been made public recently and those chassis designs put forward by BAT Engineering, Dallara, DeltaWing, Lola and Swift will be evaluated by the selected members of the committee. This advisory board will be formed by an IRL representative, a team owner, an engine expert, a promoter and an engineer. It has already been decided that retired United States Air Force general William Looney III, will chair that group and that it will report its findings to Randy Bernard, IRL CEO, who will make the final decision. Each full-time IndyCar team will have cast one vote to select the team boss, while Bernard will select the other members. The IRL will announce the committee members next week, with a final recommendation expected by the end of July. Recent Articles
