Organisers have announced that the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix is cancelled this year and that the troubled economy means the race is off again in 2010.
They say the event could resume in 2011 if conditions improve. Lack of sponsorship is the main reason why the event is off for this year and next year. The 2009 race had been set for Sept. 4-6 and it included an IRL race, as well as American Le Mans Series and SCCA Speed World Challenge races.
