Following last Sunday’s Indianapolis 500, IndyCar officials have changed the order of the race finish, moving Marco Andretti from sixth to third place.
Briton Alex Lloyd moves down one spot to fourth. Scott Dixon moves from fourth to fifth, and Danica Patrick drops from fifth to sixth. The top two places did not change. Dario Franchitti beat Dan Wheldon for his second Indy 500 victory. Video review showed three cars passed Andretti after the caution flag came out on lap 199. Dale Coyne, who owns Lloyd's car, said his team would not protest the revised finish order. Dario Franchitti earned a total of $2,752,055 for his victory on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, runner-up Dan Wheldon took home $1,007,305 while third place Marco Andretti will now receive $ 630,505. Young driver Simona de Silvestro of Switzerland has been named Indianapolis 500 Chase Rookie of the Year and will receive a $25,000 bonus.
