Atlantic graduate Simona de Silvestro impressed everyone at HVM Racing with her good form at the Sebring circuit in Florida for what was her maiden IndyCar test, which lasted two days.
The 21-year-old from Switzerland, who finished third in the Atlantic series standings last year after being on top most of the year, was invited for a two-day test with a view to joining the IndyCar Series with Keith Wiggins’ squad in a possible partnership with Team Stargate Worlds. “From the outset, she showed she was capable of driving the car fast,” says Wiggins. “And she progressed rapidly. In fact, we were so comfortable that we began working on development of our 2010 programme using her feedback.” Her bosses at Stargate Worlds bosses were quick to point out that the test boded well for a future alliance. HVM has already signed Robert Doornbos for 2010 and is looking for a second driver after EJ Viso announced that he would move on to another team. Photos: HVM Racing
