Four past winners will be among the 33 drivers that will take part in this coming Sunday’s 93rd edition of the Indy 500 that is being held on the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Helio Castroneves (2001-02), Dan Wheldon (2005), Dario Franchitti (2007) and Scott Dixon (2008) will try again to end up in the winner circle. Castroneves will try to join an elite club by winning a third Indy 500 while driving an entry fielded by 14-times Indy 500 winners Team Penske. Only 8 drivers have been able to reach that feat since the inaugural race in 1911. Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon will also make history by becoming the first team mates to race for the same team, Chip Ganassi Racing, having both won the Indy 500 and the IndyCar Series title in the same year, respectively in 2007 and 2008. Three women will also be on the starting grid; Danica Patrick, veteran Sarah Fisher and Milka Duno that have qualified their cars respectively in 10th, 21st and 31st place. 93rd Edition of the Indy 500 – Starting Line-up Row No.1 Helio Castroneves Ryan Briscoe Dario Franchitti Row No.2 Graham Rahal Scott Dixon Tony Kanaan Row No.3 Mario Moraes Marco Andretti Will Power Row No.4 Danica Patrick Alex Lloyd Raphael Matos Row No.5 Paul Tracy Vitor Meira Justin Wilson Row No.6 Hideki Mutoh Ed Carpenter Dan Wheldon Row No.7 AJ Foyt IV Scott Sharp Sarah Fisher Row No.8 Davey Hamilton Robert Doornbos Townsend Bell Row No.9 Oriol Servia Tomas Scheckter Mike Conway Row No.10 John Andretti EJ Viso Alex Tagliani Row No.11 Milka Duno Nelson Philippe Ryan Hunter-Reay Photos: IMS
