The annual banquet for the VEGA Cup was held last weekend. More than 160 people attended and the 2007 champions were crowned. The VEGA Cup is known for its developing drivers and its committed sponsors in order to honor the winners in many ways. Eight new champions, karting enthusiasts and their families received a surprise visit from Formula Atlantic driver Kevin Lacroix. "It is important for me to keep in contact with the people that helped me achieve my goals in automobile racing. Karting is the best place to start a career in racing. The young Mikaël Grenier - who will race in a single-seater next year - is another example that karting helps competitors evolve in automobile racing," explains Lacroix. Two drivers were awarded the rookie of the year award. The young and ecstatic Kevin Hébert won in the junior category and Frederic Corriveau won in the senior. A 500$ Prize H Grégoire gave the Plante family an honorary prize of 500$ for their dedicated performances in the VEGA championship where three children and their father participate in the races. "Apart from outlining their performances, we also noticed their racing spirit, participation and their involvement. This selection was difficult because we had more than 15 drivers to choose from our list," explains Michel Poulin of H Grégoire.
