The 2010 ASN Canada FIA Karting Championships, presented by Canadian Tire, will take place this weekend on the brand new Mont-Tremblant karting racetrack.
The organizers of the event were proud to announce Monday that former Formula 1 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve would race in the Rotax DD2 Masters class. The event is a three-day event and starts Friday morning with the timed practices and will end on Sunday afternoon with the final races and the podium ceremonies. Amongst the competitors, seven of them will earn the chance to compete at the Rotax Max Challenge World Finals next November in Italy. Joined by Auto123.com, Villeneuve could not confirm the news unfortunately. “I really love karting and I was planning on competing in the Canadian Championships,” Villeneuve told us.
“However, I have not turned a wheel so far this year in a kart and I have not driven the new karting track of Mont-Tremblant. More importantly, there are several major issues I have to deal with at the moment (his Formula 1 project and NASCAR), so I really don’t know if I am going to be able to race this weekend,” Villeneuve told Auto123.com And what is the latest news about the Villeneuve Racing/Durango Formula 1 project? “Still no news from Europe,” Villeneuve replied.
