Carl Edwards (Ford No 99) was very fast this weekend winning the Nationwide race in Memphis on Saturday afternoon and the Pep Boys Auto 500 Sprint Cup race at the Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday afternoon.
But all his efforts can do very little to beat series point leader Jimmie Johnson (Chevy No 48) who had his share of problems during the race but still finished second to Edwards thanks to a pit stop with 13 laps to go, taking four fresh tires. This is where he went from 11th to 2nd and ended up with a 183-point lead with three races to go. Denny Hamlin (Camry No 11) came in third. Matt Kenseth (Ford No 17) and Kyle Busch (Camry No 18) finished fourth and fifth. Photos: NASCAR
