Ron Dennis, wasn’t at the German Grand Prix, instead he was at the Brickyard 400 trying to make his company the fuel injection supplier for NASCAR.
The former Team Principal of
McLaren Mercedes Formula One team said that
NASCAR’s Sprint Cup series could have fuel injections systems by 2011. NASCAR officials have not announced any timetable for the switch from carburetors to fuel injection
Dennis said that McLaren Electronics could supply, in addition to fuel injection, many electronic systems that would be tamper proof and would indicate “finger prints,” of anyone trying to cheat the systems.
NASCAR CEO Brian France said that the sanctioning body was interested in integrating these systems it would be a steady progression and he was concerned about the cost of the switchover by the teams.
