Rusty Wallace Racing and Joe Gibbs Racing officials have announced the formation of a technical alliance starting with the 2010 season. JGR will provide RWR with technical support.
Rusty Wallace (photo), who ended his driving career at Penske Racing had formed RWR with son, Steven as driver of Dodges from Penske then switched to Chevrolets for the past two years. Now, they’ll be entering Toyota Camrys in the Nationwide series with engines supplied by Triad Racing Development. Wallace, a former NASCAR Cup Champion, said, “We’re excited about working with J.D. (Gibbs) and his guys; they’ve built a very solid Nationwide Series program over the past several seasons. Between all of the support that we’re receiving from Toyota and this new partnership, I feel that 2010 will be a strong year for our team.” JGR President J.D. Gibbs commented, “We’re looking forward to working with Rusty and his team at RWR. We’re excited to have them join the Toyota camp next year in the Nationwide Series and we look forward to providing assistance to their program as well.” Although Steven Wallace and Brendan Gaughan were RWR drivers this past year there was no mention of who will be driving for the team in 2010.
