Jim Russell Championship Press Release
The Jim Russell Championship Series announced today their plans for the 2010 season featuring a fully funded seat in the FIA Formula Two Championship to be awarded to the champion. The 16-race Jim Russell Championship Series will be contested on a variety of configurations at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA (USA). The program includes driver coaching complimented by full data acquisition, media training and seminars on a variety of topics essential for today’s racing driver. This award is an extension of the Jim Russell concept of providing a modern and relevant car for young drivers to develop and display their talents. The Jim Russell FJR-50, a Formula 3 based car is an ideal platform to prepare drivers for Formula 2. The 2010 Jim Russell Championship Series champion will automatically join the Jim Russell Future Driver Team and compete in the 2011 FIA Formula 2 Championship. In December of 2009, Jim Russell will host the Future Driver | 2010 Selection with Allan McNish; a four-day driver search that will choose two drivers to compete in the 2010 Jim Russell Championship Series. These drivers will be the first two in the Jim Russell Future Driver program and will have the opportunity to compete for the championship and Formula Two ride. The FIA Formula 2 Championship was launched in 2009.
