David Gilliland, a victim of the musical chairs game late in the NASCAR season, has a landed a really good seat at Joe Gibbs Racing in the Sprint Cup Series for three races - Charlotte, Texas and Homestead.
Gilliland, who has had 24 starts this season with TRG, will be teamed with Wally Brown, JGR’s R &D/Test Team crew chief. The sponsor “Farm Bureau Insurance is an outstanding partner with us and we think David and Wally will represent them well in these three races” said Joe Gibbs Racing President J.D. Gibbs. “Denny did a good job for them earlier this year and we’re confident Joey will give them a good run in Martinsville as well. We want to make sure we provide their agents, members and customers a program they can be proud of.” That will make a four-car entry for JGR in those races. There was no comment about expanding to a full-four-car team (which will be the maximum permitted by NASCAR) next year. Photos: NASCAR
