Less than a week after announcing that it would cut in its backing of both Nationwide and Truck Series teams, General Motors will also back down on its financial support for its main teams competing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup.
Hendrick Motorsports and Stewart/Haas Racing, currently the top teams for Chevrolet in the championship, confirmed that they've been notified of the measure. Chevrolet teams have been receiving both technical and financial support from GM with figures estimated to be around 10 to 20 per cent of the teams' budgets Tony Stewart says the cuts will have an impact on the team's finances, but he doesn't expect that to affect its performance on the track. Other Chevrolet-supported teams competing in the Sprint Cup are Richard Childress Racing and Earnhardt Ganassi Racing. Photos: NASCAR
