Richard Childress Racing, which has had difficult year, with no drivers in NASCAR’s Chase for the Sprint Cup and rumors of Kevin Harvick (photo) leaving after his contract expires in 2010, has shuffled his crew chiefs in both the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series.
Todd Berrier, once Harvick’s crew chief and currently on with Casey Mears, will take over on Jeff Burton’s No 31 Chevrolet. Scott Miller, who has been with that team since 2001 will take over the director of competition appointment which was previously announced. Doug Randolph will take over on Mears’ car. Starting this weekend, at the Nationwide Series race at Memphis, TN, Dan Deeringhoff, will replace Randolph on the No 29 car which has had drivers, Burton, Clint Bowyer, and Stephen Leicht. “I said previously that RCR would continue to adjust our team lineups in order to have the right personnel in place and this is the next step in that process,” said Richard Childress, president and CEO of Richard Childress Racing. “Todd, Doug and Dan are all proven winners so the goal of these moves is to put them in the best situations to continue that success. I’m confident that making these changes now will be a benefit to the teams for the rest of this season as well as in preparing for 2010.” Photos: NASCAR
