Former two-time World Rally Champion
Marcus Gronholm has announced that he will not be making a comeback in the WRC next year.
The tall Finn, who put an end his professional career in 2007, performed the first tests of the new
MINI Countryman, which will make its WRC debut with Prodrive in 2011. Gronholm was rumoured to join the team as one of the two works drivers.
Finally, Gronholm told newspaper Turun Sonomat that he prefers not making a comeback in the World Rally Championship.
“I don’t think I’m going to come back. At times, it seemed like a good idea to drive again in the WRC, but I no longer want it so much. Once you have decided to stop, it does not make sense to change your mind and come back. Driving has always been fun, but life offers other things to do,” said Gronholm.
