Kimi Raikkonen will take part in 11 of the 13 rounds of the 2011 World Rally Championship with his own team called Ice 1 Racing Team.
The Finn made his debuts in WRC last year with the Citroën Junior Team. During the winter, there were a lot of speculations concerning his future, including a NASCAR switch, and even the end of the career for the 2007 F1 World Champion. Finally, Raikkonen has contacted the organisers of the Rally Sweden, the opening round of the WRC, just a few hours before the deadline, revealed French daily L’Équipe. Raikkonen will run a Citroen DS3 R3 in 10 out of the 13 rounds of the WRC season with the backing of his own sponsors. There won’t be a Citroen Junior Team anymore, as Sébastien Loeb and Sébastien Ogier will be the only drivers to represent the French works team. Meanwhile, Petter Solberg also confirmed his participation to the Rally Sweden, again with Petter Solberg World Rally Team, but has not secured the budget for the remaining rounds of the calendar.
