Ford Team driver Mikko Hirvonen leads the Rally of Portugal with a 15-second advantage over his pursuers after an action-packed first day of competition in the Algarve. Hirvonen moved into the rally lead on the first of the afternoon's stages and held the position for the rest of the day. Citroen team driver Dani Sordo is second, with his teammate Sébastien Loeb 3sec further back in third. Subaru Impreza driver Marcus Gronholm is fourth, 7.9sec behind Loeb, having made a remarkable return to competitive form after almost 18 months away from the sport.
