It doesn't look like your grandpa's Mercedes now does it? Indeed, things have changed. The B200 doesn't come standard with leather seating, isn't a low-slung coupe or aggressively poised sedan, and it drives the front, not the rear wheels. It isn't even unaffordable to most folks- with a nicely loaded sticker under $40,000.

The B-Class is the entry-level Mercedes-Benz in North America.

What's going on?

Mercedes has created a product with do-it-all versatility that satisfies a diverse set of needs. There's no specific target market for the B200, because it's so flexible that just about anyone could use it. They've opened a new door with this machine- in the North America market anyways. In Europe, machines like the B-Class are all the rage, and there's even a smaller A-Class we don't have here.

Comfortable, roomy and well made interior
At scarcely 4.3 metres long, you'll find it more spacious inside than its shape leads on. There are five seats, the rears folding out of the way to accommodate just about any combination of passengers and cargo you might require. Be it camping, groceries, hockey-duty or a night on the town with friends, it'll carry along anything you like in safety.

Build quality is excellent, as is the comfort, attention to detail and thoughtfulness throughout. There are automatic wipers and headlights, an adjustable centre armrest, heated and height-adjustable seats and an auto-dimming rearview mirror comprising the list of important interior features. They've even included a hands-free telephone system on the stereo face-unit, so you can gab to your heart's content while keeping your hands appropriately on the steering wheel. Safety first, after all.

Small car agility, big car safety
It's a major concern for the young families who have taken to the new B-Class, and it's well dealt with. ABS, ESP, a full selection of airbags and many other innovative features are included to keep passengers rolling in total safety. Part of that safety is being seen- which is no problem with projector headlamps, and fog-lamps for both front and rear. You can even have your B200 with adaptive headlights, which swivel back and forth to illuminate nighttime curves.

It offers a lot of safety features such as multiple airbags, ESP, ABS and much more.
