2008 Dodge Dakota at the Chicago Auto Show

The Dakota could be considered a pioneer in the pickup segment. Launched in the late 80s, the mid-size truck found many takers. Through the years, the Dakota has gotten bigger except for this time around. The 2008 Dakota moves closer in styling to the Ram with a flatter larger front grille and headlights. Its body lines sharpen significantly once again mimicking it popular big brother. Engine choices remain the same with the exception of the 4.7L V8 which gets reworked for an improved output of 290 hp and 320 lb/ft of torque. With the added power, the Dakota has best-in-class towing capacity; it is rated at 7,050 lbs. Those that live in the frigid north or the torrid south will be glad to find out that the Dakota gets a standard remote starter.
