2008 Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country at the Chicago Auto Show

First seen in Detroit, the new Chrysler minivans are chalk-full of features. For starters, the new look of the Caravan is typical Dodge with its oversized cross-hair grill. The Town & Country has a smoother look which properly displays the more sophisticated Chrysler look. Both minivans will have a plethora of safety items including stability control and an array of air bags. One of the most intriguing elements is the new optional swivel'n go seating. The theme "family room on wheels" is at the basis of the newly appointed interior. As of the 2008 model year, only the long-wheelbase version remains. Powering the duo of minivans will the familiar 3.3L V6 and 3.8L V6. The 3.3L is flex-fuel capable, generates 170 hp and is mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. The 3.8L puts out 198 hp and is joined by a new 6-speed automatic. Finally and most interestingly, the 240 hp 4.0L V6 from the Nitro R/T finds its way under the bonnet of the new minivans. It also is coupled to the 6-speed autobox.
