Diesel news from General Motors
GM has recently announced that it will offer a state-of-the-art Duramax turbo diesel motor for some of its light-duty trucks as early as 2009 for some vehicles. This 4.5L V8 has significantly improved engine fuel efficiency, up to 25 %, reduces CO2 emissions by 13% and cuts particulates and NOx emissions by a minimum of 90%. The new DOHC 32-valve diesel engine fits within the same space of a small-block V-8 gas engine. Horsepower and torque ratings are expected to be in excess of 310 and 520 lb-ft respectively.
