The company's bestsellers get a much-deserved redesign. Bigger, more refined, the 2009 Corolla and Matrix will soon be on sale. The base models keep their 1.8-liter inline-4 that develops 132 hp and 128 lb-ft of torque. Transmission choices remain a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. The sporty XRS models return this year, and are powered by a 2.4-liter engine that produces 158 hp and 162 lb-ft, mated to 5-speed gearboxes, manual or automatic.
