Toronto Auto Show: Volvo

For an encore, the all-new 2006 second-generation C70 convertible returns with more style and a brand new retractable hardtop. The roof was designed jointly with Italian designer and builder Pininfarina of Ferrari fame. The three-piece top folds neatly into the trunk. Never putting safety aside, Volvo has designed side curtain air bags that deploy from the tops of the doors even when the top is down. Powering the C70 is the turbocharged 2.5L inline 5-cylinder from the S40 and V50 T5. Rated at 218 hp and mated to either a 6-speed manual or 5-spedd automatic, the C70 should prove to be a competent performer.
