Ian Forsyth, Director of Product Planning at Nissan says that "consumer response to the roomy, highly fuel-efficient Versa Hatchback has been tremendous, with dealer inventory running at around a 30-day supply level or less since its introduction last summer. We'll be adding additional Versa production at our Cuernavaca, Mexico plant in January to help catch up with demand."

It's nearly no wonder why they seem to be flying off the shelves, so to speak. Now, there's a sedan variant, and it's success is much the same.

The Japanese automaker recently announced that the Versa Sedan, with it's 1.8 litre, 122 horsepower engine and six-speed manual transmission will start at just $15,198. Add $1,000 for an automatic gearbox on the 1.8 S model. Additionally, an SL model with six-speed comes in at $17,798- including aluminum wheels, keyless access, ABS, air conditioning and cruise control. A top-line Versa SL with autobox will relieve owners of $18,798.

Available options include a 6-CD changer, fog lamps, leather wrapped steering wheel and sunroof. Bluetooth wireless cell phone connectivity is also available.

The Versa has a proven approach to motoring enjoyment, lots of room and reasonable pricing coupled with advanced airbags and top-notch crash test ratings.

Sounds like a safe bet to us.
